Finally There Is An Affordable Touchscreen Laptop

Touchscreen technology on laptop computers is fairly new.  New technology usually comes with a pretty hefty price tag attached.  Finally there is an affordable touchscreen laptop on the market.  The laptop that I’m referring to is the Acer Aspire 5738PG.  This little touch screen laptop can be yours for only $799.  That makes this unit among the most inexpensive touch screen notebook computers on the market.  At this price, even struggling college students can afford to own a touchscreen laptop.

This model comes bundled with Windows 7 which is the first operating system ever made to fully support multi touch technology.  Acer’s timing was perfect because they introduced this computer at the same time that Microsoft launched Windows 7.

This touchscreen laptop comes with what is called a passive digitizer touchscreen.  This means that you don’t have to use an electronic stylus to make the touchscreen work.  Consumers have really started to like being able to just touch their computer screens to interact with their computer.

This unit supports what is called multi touch.  This basically means that the user can touch the computer screen in more than one location at a time and the computer will recognize both points of input.  Multi touch technology makes things like photo manipulation very easy.  For example while looking at photos on a touchscreen laptop with multi touch technology, the user can touch the screen with two fingers slide the fingers apart quickly then the image will enlarge.  Do the opposite in the image will shrink.  Touch this image with two fingers and rotate them to the left and the image rotates to the left.  Touch the image with two fingers and rotate them to the right and the image rotates to the right. On the Acer touchscreen laptop, the user can touch the screen and make the swirl and the Acer navigation screen pops up.

The simple fact that Acer has entered into the world of touchscreen laptops and has such an inexpensive model on the market will likely drive prices down for competing brands down which is good for all computer shoppers.
